About
David Kaplan (david[at]2of1.org) [PGP = 0xe6713882]
I’m a software developer and security researcher currently living with my wife and kids in Modi’in, Israel.
I am passionate about anything tech-related. But have a special interest in writing code, being involved in open source projects and analysing software security.
My skills:
- Class I Masters in Electronic and Engineering from the University of Birmingham (is that a skill?)
- C, C++, C#, Assembly (various)
- Qt, .NET, HTML, CSS, Python (but I’m bad at it
) - Linux user-space and kernel-space coding
- Coding for embedded devices (Linux based)
- Static and dynamic software analysis – a ’special case of debugging’
Hardware:
- Intel Core i5 750 quad core @ 2.66GHz (3.2Ghz TurboBoost), 4Gb 1333MHz DDR2, 1Tb 64Mb cache, ATI Radeon 5670, Win7
- Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 dual core @ 3GHz, 8Gb DDR2, 500Gb Raid 0 + 80Gb, Nvidia 9400GT + Nvidia 8400GT (quad monitors), Ubuntu 10.10 (kernel 2.6.38-rc4)
- (An iMac G4, 3x laptops with various dual core CPUs, 1 Intel Atom N-something-or-other(240?) Mini-itx board)
So how did I get involved in software if I trained in hardware engineering? Simple: no one would give me a job!
